Menstrual Hygiene Day

On Thursday 25th May, 2023 UNYA-GH commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Day on the theme: Making Menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030 at Feyiase D/A JHS, Bosomtwe -Kumasi

Menstrual Hygiene is compulsory for every female for a healthy life. Poor Menstrual Hygiene poses serious health danger on females. This is why the UNYA-GH embark on menstrual hygiene project at the Feyiase D/A JHS, KUMASI to sensitize public menstrual health, educate on personal hygiene and donate pad as a means of encouraging and maintaining menstrual hygiene for better health.

We are grateful to the school Administration, Teachers, students of Feyiase D/A J H.S for the opportunity to make impact and the entire Team of UNYA-GH for making the program a success and memorable.

UNYA-GH AND MELTON FOUNDATION AFRICA SIGN PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

The United Nations Youth Association-Ghana (UNYA-GH) and Melton Foundation Africa (MFA) -a subsidiary of Melton Foundation International has recently sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to partner each other programs and activities with emphasis Global Citizenship through local grassroots action and cross-cultural cooperation in principle to jointly address issues in our interconnected world within the African context and the promotion the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The event was held during the official launch of Melton Foundation Africa.

TERMS OF AGREEMENT

The two parties hereto within the context of the MOU desire to enter into this agreement to help:

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Leveraging networks for maximum impact
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Knowledge exchange
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Membership drive support
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Global citizenship practice which includes town hall meetings, broadcasts, trainings, round table and focused group activities and engagement as way for individual organizations to work together across boundaries of place and identity to address both local and global challenges.

With global citizenship education and practices as a guiding principle, the two parties agree to use their programs and activities which are also aligned with the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and focusing on local grassroots action and intercultural collaboration to actively work together on tackling problems in our interconnected world within the African context.

BRIEF PROFILES OF PARTNERS

The Melton Foundation Africa is known as a Ghanaian non-profit organization established to reinforce, deepen and contextualize the Melton Foundation’s efforts to catalyze social impact through cross-boundary collaboration and youth empowerment in Ghana and across Africa. The organization began in 1991 and partners with universities in Chile, China, Germany, India and the USA and recently Ghana which hosts MFA offices. Their core mission strategies trains, advocates and promotes Global Citizenship as ways individuals and organizations can work harmoniously together across boundaries to identity and innovationly address global challenges across industries, sectors, cultures, and geographical boundaries to find solutions that benefits everyone.

The UNYA-GH mandate is to promote United Nations resolutions, programs and initiatives in Ghana. UNYA-GH believes people, especially the youth everywhere must be actively involved, consistent, and committed to improving people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership at both local and global levels of decision-making in order to boost the achievement of the United Nations goals. UNYA-GH is a youth-focused, youth-driven force useful in combating global challenges by leveraging local innovative solutions to promote equal opportunities for all. By promoting, bolstering, and mobilizing support for United Nations resolutions, programs, and projects, UNYA-GH remains dedicated to fostering youth empowerment, global citizenship education, and sustainable peace and development locally and globally.

In line with this way forward approach, UNYA-GH is collaborating with the MFA to empower thousands of Ghanaian youth and leaders to address seven key indicators:

2. Conflict Resolution and management
3. Local and inter-state Diplomacy
4. Youth in Climate Action
5. Equity, Equality and Human Rights
6. Strengthening Youth Advocacy
7. Youth Inclusion in Governance

Both UNYA-GH and MFA are optimistic of productive and impactful values for greater good through this partnership as young Ghanaians and Africans will have unique opportunities to collaborate across cultural and socio-economic boundaries to find solutions to the urgent pertinent challenges facing our communities thanks to this partnership.
